Science

Many middle school students, especially those with a solid math background, are ready to get started studying science in earnest but have to wait for high school to begin to do so. We offer such students a structured environment with like-minded peers to move ahead. Getting scientific background in place early opens the door to a wide variety of research projects, fairs, and competitions in high school.

Jump Start Chemistry
Suitable for Grades 6-9

Chemistry is a branch of science that investigates the properties of and changes that occur in matter. It has been called the “central science” because it bridges physics, biology and geology.

In this course gain exposure to core concepts of chemistry, including atoms, molecules, the periodic table, scientific notation, moles, chemical bonds and more.  We follow Chemistry for Everyone but also look at supplementary materials. Participants will be expected to prepare and review at home.

Jump Start Physics

Suitable for Grades 6-9

Physics is a branch of science that investigates the effects and forces that objects exert on each other. It studies matter in its most fundamental aspects, and thus forms a basis for the other sciences.

In this course, students gain exposure to some of the core concepts of physics, including forces, the laws of motion, work, energy, power and momentum. This course also provides many examples to reinforce and give meaning to topics covered in algebra.  We follow Homework Helpers Physics and Just Enough Physics and also look at supplementary materials. Participants are expected to prepare and review at home.
